Bikes on Taupo is your local bike hire business, operating right on the lakefront in Taupo.  Open 7 days a week throughout December and January, come and visit us to get rolling!

Bikes on Taupo began in the Summer of 2015, and provides convenient bike rental option for tourists and locals alike.  Situated right on the Lakefront, and along the 12km Lions Cycleway, Bikes on Taupo is the perfect place to hop on a bike and experience the very best of Taupo! 

Bikes on Taupo offers a range of bikes for adults , as well as flexible options for children and families.  Each bike hire includes a helmet and a lock, and bikes can be hired for 2 hours, 4 hours, or the whole day!

Our friendly team can offer ride recommendations to suit group size and abilities, and will provide a bike fitted to each individual.  Our team are also experienced mechanics, and in addition to checking every bike before each hire, regularly service the bikes and accessories.

Avanti Discovery 2 "Hybrid"

The Discovery 2 is built for comfort. The soft seat and upright riding position make cycling a breeze.

Our Hybrid bikes offer men's and women's specific frames as well as a suspension seat post and gel saddle to create a comfortable ride.  These bikes are ideal for cycle paths and gentle trails, including the local Rotary Ride. 

The front suspension can be turned off for smooth pavement riding, while the mechanical disk brakes provide assured stopping power and control while braking.  

All our hyrbid bikes come fitted with a lock, bottle cage and rear pannier rack, and are compatible with our entire range of accessories such as the child trailer or baby seat. 

Raleigh Copenhagen "Cruiser"

Classic style for cruising the lakefront or around town. Simple riding that packs a whole lot of cool.

Our Cruiser bikes will take you back to your childhood.  The low step through frame makes hopping on and off the bike no extra effort, while the upright riding position provides an easy and comfortable ride.  

These classic bikes are perfect for the local paths, such as the Lions Cycleway.  All our cruisers come fitted with a bottle cage, pannier rack and wicker basket to carry all your belongings - and the picnic basket - in style.

Moses

Moses is an experienced cyclist, bike mechanic and co-owner of Bikes on Campus, a bike workshop and retail space on the University of Waikato campus.  He enjoys riding around town on his fixie, but also enjoys longer rides on his custom built road bike, always training for events, but never quite signing up to them! Moses describes himself as: "friendly, humerous and occassionally a bit too bike nerdy" - he is always up for a chat!

Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie enjoys all manners of cycling, but like all bike shop owners, wishes she had more time for it! Experienced in retail, management and mechanics, Anne-Marie is also co-owner of Bikes on Campus at the University of Waikato.  Anne-Marie's favourite thing about riding, in her own, words is: "the freedom it gives you - you can go anywhere, anytime.  Oh, and it doesn't feel like exercise!"
